...The unconventional annual conference
The Biz Conference – the unconventional annual conference taking place on Thursday 16th November is being held in association with StartMyBiz and RIFT Accounting is back for the third year!
Formally known as the UnConference, the event is held in GEW (Global Entrepreneurs Week) and is an opportunity to experience and challenge successes in business and an opportunity to hear business owners tell their stories – there is nothing like hearing it first hand!.
So who can attendees look forward to hearing from this year, well so far we are excited to announce that Mark Quinn from Quinn Estates who has worked primarily in property development for over 20 years will be telling his story from international skier to property development schemes to benefit the local community. We also have Jody Fannin who currently competes in the European Le Mans series in a Ferrari 488 GTE as well as running his own business – Watch this space for further announcements.
The organisers RIFT Accounting and Canterbury City Council’s StartMyBiz and GrowMyBiz, are certainly ready! Chris West from Canterbury City Council commented ‘After the success of the last events, we are looking forward to an excellent day’
So as an ‘attendee’ in a room full of business owners, business decision makers and entrepreneurs, what should we be considering to be ready for the day and get the most from it?. Well there is the obvious, bring your business cards, lots of energy and an open mind.
So what is The Biz Conference all about?
Formally known as The Unconference, the Biz Conference is looking to continue in the same unconventional way, ‘The beauty of our previous events is the unconventional approach that it adopts. It is an excellent opportunity to spend a day with successful business leaders, share their entrepreneurial journeys and encourage others to do the same’ according to Nettie Bunn from RIFT Accounting.
An attendee of last years’ event summed the day up as follows; ‘I was pleased to be a guest speaker at this year's event and share my business experiences with those just starting out and other established business owners. Running your own business is tough and needs great commitment, but it's also important to remember that we can always learn something new to help it develop’.
Before the day, have a think about what it is you would ideally like to learn more about to apply to your own business – Is it to listen to others business journeys? Is it to know your way around social media better? Is it around communication, growing, selling a business? Whatever it is – don’t be afraid to say so on the day!
There will be opportunities to pitch your own business, attend workshops, book a stand…. – just ask for further details.
