Kent Entrepreneurs Unconference

Calling all Kent entrepreneurs!

The Kent UNconference tackles the most important challenges for local businesses and opene up the lines of communication between entrepreneurs so they can support one another. As Annette Bunn. Partnerships Manager at RIFT Accounting says, you should "Come to the day prepared to contribute because if you are out there running a business, you have an important experience to share. You can either pitch to run a session or just join in the conversations. Either way you will be giving something, but taking away a lot more".

What’s in it for you?

Attendance is free of charge – just bring yourself and that spark of desire to be more of a participant rather than a delegate. Running as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week we will capture the growing entrepreneur culture spreading across Kent and give you some new tips and skills to take away that will help turn your business up another notch.

We think this is a great way to build new connections, create new business opportunities and share stories. Unlike a traditional conference it acknowledges that expertise and knowledge is everywhere in the audience and not just the invited speakers.

How Does It Work?

Bucking the usual trend for rather tame business conferences, the Kent UNconference offers an exciting alternative format by allowing attendees the opportunity to “pitch to speak” for up to 15 minutes on the day. Then all delegates vote for the best pitches, choosing speakers who can offer insight and solutions to the business challenges that are most relevant to everyone in the room.

Paul Andrews, presenter of Business Bunker and a former Entrepreneur of the Year explains, “We want to create an event that gives local business owners and thought leaders the opportunity to tell us and one another what they see as the current business Zeitgeist, the way forward and how they see their markets developing. In addition to delivering invaluable information to the attendees of the UNconference, this will give us a snapshot of current business thinking and challenges and help us create even more relevant and informative content for Business Bunker and future live events.”

Do you have an experience to share about how you overcame challenges in innovating and growing your business? If so please come along and pitch it to everyone. Through a lively facilitated process, see if it gets voted in to form part of the day’s agenda and get the opportunity to speak during one of the short 15 minute breakout sessions that will take place during the day. Information from each session will be posted online to encourage follow up discussions and among attendees and other interested individuals.
